05 / PARTNER · THE DIGITAL RESIDENCY

Website management services
with a year-long partner.

One year inside your business. A lasting impact on your website.

Your website needs more than occasional attention. It needs someone who understands your goals, connects the details, and helps your team keep moving forward.

Through the Digital Residency, I work alongside your team for a year to guide strategic improvements, establish practical processes, and transfer knowledge to the people who will own the website long term. Think of me as the website person on your team—without the full-time hire.

Let’s Talk About a Residency

ONGOING WEBSITE LEADERSHIP

Who this is for

The Digital Residency is for businesses and nonprofits that need consistent website leadership but aren’t ready to add a full-time website manager. You may have a small marketing team, a busy agency relationship, a backlog of improvements, or a redesign that needs someone to connect the work.

It is a good fit when you need website help across several connected issues over time. If you have one clearly defined question or project, a focused audit, redesign plan, or agency engagement may be a more useful starting point.

A PRACTICAL ORDER OF PRIORITIES

Turn the backlog into a plan

We begin with your business, your audiences, and the website you have today. I help separate recurring frustrations from underlying problems, identify what deserves attention, and organize the work into a practical order.

That plan can connect content and SEO, navigation and user experience, accessibility considerations, digital marketing needs, and the realities of maintaining the site. The priorities should reflect what your organization needs to accomplish and what your team can reasonably support.

CONNECTED PEOPLE AND DECISIONS

Move the work forward with your team and agency

An experienced website professional can give your team a consistent point of connection. I help explain business needs, bring feedback together, review agreed milestones, and keep open questions visible as the work passes between people.

Your agency contributes its design and development expertise. Your team supplies the business context and approvals. I help those perspectives stay connected, with implementation responsibilities and decision authority agreed at the outset.

MEANINGFUL PROGRESS

Measure the success of your website

Before we decide what to change, we discuss what progress should look like. Depending on your goals, that might mean more useful inquiries, clearer paths to important information, more accurate content, or less time spent making routine updates.

Where relevant data is available, I can help interpret analytics and search performance alongside feedback from your team and visitors. We look for evidence that informs the next decision, rather than treating traffic alone as the measure of success. The measures and reporting approach are agreed around your needs.

KNOWLEDGE THAT STAYS WITH YOU

Build a system your team can own

The goal isn’t to make you dependent on me. It’s the opposite. As we improve the website, I help clarify content ownership, establish useful workflows, and document the decisions and processes your team will need later.

Knowledge transfer belongs throughout the engagement. Depending on the agreed scope, that can include practical guidance, documentation, and training for the people who will maintain the work. The aim is a stronger website and a team better equipped to manage it after the Residency ends.

HOW THE YEAR CAN WORK

Understand.
Improve.
Hand over.

Begin with the business

We discuss your goals, website responsibilities, current partners, and where your team needs support. Before starting, we agree on scope, access, priorities, and how decisions will be made.

Guide connected improvements

I work with you to prioritize the work and support the agreed activities. As needs change, we review the direction together and agree on any changes to the scope.

Make the knowledge transferable

We keep responsibilities and processes visible throughout the year and prepare an agreed handoff. Your team should understand what has changed, why it matters, and how to keep the work moving.

A FEW COMMON QUESTIONS

A clear role.
A shared direction.

How is a Digital Residency different from a one-time project?

A focused project addresses an agreed question or set of deliverables. The Residency is a year-long relationship that gives me time to understand the business, guide connected improvements, and help your team establish sustainable practices. We still define its scope and responsibilities before starting.

What is included in your website management services?

The scope is tailored to your needs. It may include website priorities, content planning, agency coordination, review of agreed work, governance, performance interpretation, and knowledge transfer. We agree on deliverables, involvement, and implementation responsibilities before work begins.

Does this replace our agency or technical maintenance plan?

The Residency can work alongside your existing agency. Hosting, security, backups, software updates, development, and technical maintenance are not automatically included. We clarify who is responsible for each area so strategic guidance and technical support fit together.

Will you make changes directly on our website?

We can discuss whether hands-on content updates are appropriate within the engagement. Direct changes depend on the agreed scope, platform, access, and approval process. Design, development, and specialist technical work may remain with your agency or another provider.

How much time will you spend with our team?

We define the level of involvement, communication approach, and availability as part of the agreement. A year-long relationship describes the duration of the engagement; it does not imply a full-time employee or unlimited support.
